Put your shin guards on and get ready for some more smack-talking from this Trumbull team. NCG, Inc trainer, Sebastian Baptista, has decided to respond to his colleague and a fellow soccer player, Tom Allen, who recently told us about the teams and players he loves and hates the most.
With the Super Bowl less than two weeks away, we had to kick off (pun intended!) our questioning with the subject of the NFL. Here’s what Sebastian had to say about the team he’d kick out of the league:
“One team in the NFL that I would get rid of has to be the New York Jets. I’ve seen too many TV’s being broken, Christmas decorations destroyed, cars ruined, and sad faces that follow an NYJ loss. I’ve noticed that of all the NFL teams, the Jets fans seem to have a deeper obsession with their team. When they don’t perform, like five of the eleven times last season, every Jets fan loses it for a couple hours and bad things happen to good people or decorations in my case. So at the end of the day, #savethedecoration. Bye Jets!”
You’ll recall that Sebastian’s colleague, Tom, had told us he’d get rid of the Cleveland Browns, a team whom Sebastian can’t help but pity. “I strongly believe that going 1-15 will make even the most loyal of your fans hate you! Poor guys!”, he told us.
The next thing we wanted to know was what Sebastian thought of Tom’s dislike of Lebron. Interestingly, Sebastian stood by his co-worker’s side on this one! He told us:
“In this case, I must agree with Tom. True dedication is shown by when a man stays on a team by the people and the fans. Not by the popularity of the team or the amount of money they will get.
As a player and someone who can piece his game together, someone who can be a team player while also leading from the front and putting points on the board, Lebron is a great player.
As a person, if he really loved his teammates, loved his fans, he would have stayed with the Miami Heat.”
Next, we had to know if they also agreed on their favorite soccer players and teams. Sebastian let loose:
“I must agree that David Beckham is not only a very talented player but also an amazing person in his personality.
I honestly had to look up Hull City. Tom often gets lost in finding a good team to follow. It’s okay, maybe one day I can have a crucial one on one with him and show him a decent team. Small steps with Tom.”
Now we had to hear about his all-time favorite team…
“As a soccer player myself, my favorite all-time championship team has to be FC Barcelona. At first, I was a huge Leo Messi fan and loved watching him play. But after watching the game flow throughout the entire team and watching them play the game together, I loved their playing style and how they moved the ball around.
As an athlete, I began to look up to those players and incorporated a lot of their styles and flicks into my personal game. It was watching them play and taking mental notes that make me the unique player that I am today. (Who is better than Tom!)”
Sorry, Tom, don’t shoot the messenger!
If you bet that Sebastian’s favorite player was the aforementioned member of FC Barcelona, you’d be right!
“My favorite player hands down is Leo Messi! Not only did he lead me into loving Barcelona overall as a team, but his play style mimics how I’ve played as well.
It was never easy for me to understand that being a left-footed player I should have been comfortable playing the outside left. I always enjoyed playing more on the right side and couldn’t develop a groove for how I should be positioned or how to attack properly while going against natural footing. Messi, being a left-footed right winger, played the way I should have been playing and carved out an idea for how my body should be shaped in certain circumstances or how to attack while being the most dangerous on the field.”
His least favorite player is the Swedish forward who plays for Manchester United…
“Regardless of his athletic ability, one player I cannot stand is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He is an amazing striker and has performed some of the must see goals of the century, but his personality is just awful. He’s one those people who’s good but knows he’s good and doesn’t humble himself. I swear, if I see another “You don’t find Zlatan, Zlatan finds you.” meme anywhere, I just might lose it!”
We’ll end this blog post on another note of unity. Did you know that Tom and Sebastian are both dying to visit the same venue? (Hey Jolene, hint hint!)
“I would love to go to the Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain! Not only is the location just amazing, my favorite team plays there and my biggest dream to be able to see at least one Barcelona game live at some point in my life! So, Keep your fingers crossed for me!”
